The Janine Nessler Association

The Janine Nessler association aims to promote the work of the painter Janine Nessler (1925–2026).

Established under the 1901 law, it is managed by the artist's descendants, who ensure the preservation, dissemination and transmission of his artistic and human legacy.

The artist's work

The Janine Nessler association's mission is to preserve, document and promote the artist's entire body of work.

It catalogues paintings, drawings, lithographs and archival documents, in collaboration with private collectors, galleries and institutions that have hosted its exhibitions.

This work of remembrance is part of a desire to create a reliable reference for research, art history and cultural transmission.

The association also strives to encourage the rediscovery of the artist among the general public, through publications, exhibitions, partnerships and the provision of a collection of images and texts intended for researchers, teachers and art lovers.

She is doing this so that Janine Nessler's work continues to live, to inspire and to move, beyond time and generations.

The promotion of culture

True to the artist's spirit of openness and sharing, the association is also committed to promoting culture and artistic education.

It offers educational workshops, educational fact sheets and small thematic files for teachers, mediators and cultural structures, in order to raise awareness among younger generations about painting and artistic creation.

These resources, available on the website, invite us to discover painting as a universal language of emotion, color and light.

The transmission of memory

Janine Nessler's story, marked by her childhood during the Second World War and her journey as the daughter of a Romanian Jewish lawyer who took refuge in France, gives her work a profound human and historical dimension.

The association wishes to honor this memory by participating in actions to prevent anti-Semitism and all forms of stigmatization, through cultural and educational initiatives.

Educational fact sheets and files are made available on the website to support teachers and educators in this process of remembrance and transmission.

Our missions

Through its actions, the Janine Nessler association pursues three main missions:

  • To preserve and promote the artist's work; ;
  • To disseminate artistic culture to all audiences; ;
  • To transmit the humanist values embodied in his life and art.

Through these commitments, the association helps to keep alive Janine Nessler's message: that of a luminous painting, turned towards life, beauty and human dignity.
